FIPA,
is the acronym for Federación Iberoamericana de Productores
de Agregados (Latin American Aggregates Producers Federation)
The FIPA; with headquarters on Madrid, at Travesía
de Téllez 4 , it is a non-profit organization, and
it’s scope of activity is developed in Spain, Portugal
and all central American and Caribbean countries.
The authorities of FIPA are the General Assembly, the President
and the General Secretary.
The President is Mr. Roberto L. Cuevas la Vera, from Panamá’s
Mining Chamber.
The General Secretary is Mr. Carlos Forero Bonell, from ASOGRAVAS
(Colombian Aggregates Producers Association)
The General Manager is Mr. César Luaces Frades, from
FdA, Spanish Aggregates Federation.
Nowadays,
the FIPA has representatives from different countries such
as; Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, Panamá, Dominican
Republic, Puerto Rico; Colombia; Ecuador; Peru; Venezuela;
Brazil; Argentina; Chile; Bolivia.
It is possible to become a member of the federation, to
all the (accredited identified recognized and declared)
associations or organizations at national level representing
the interests of aggregates sector. May become a member
of the Federation, too, a company, that will be classified,
in this case, as a representative association of aggregates
production sector by its country (if there were no national
association)
Nowadays, are member the Panama Mining Chamber, the Costa
Rica Mining Chamber, the Dominican Aggregates Producers
Association, the Spanish Aggregates Federation FdA, the
Province of Buenos Aires Stone Chamber, the Brazilian Aggregates
for Construction Producer Association ANEPAC; the Colombian
Aggregates and Stone Producer Association ASOGRAVAS, CEMEX
from Mexico, and Aggregates from Guatemala.
Official
languages of the Federation are Spanish and Portuguese.
The
FIPA’s aims are promoting the common interests of
represented companies trough the associations or national
organizations and to represent and to stimulate the aggregates
sector interests, to make understand and outline the economic
value and its social responsibility.
Constituent objectives
1. Promote the constitution of associations or aggregates
producers organizations in the countries of its members
as well as other countries
2. Represent the Latin American aggregates producers in
the presence of the adequate international institutions,
introducing them the initiatives, objectives and petitions
belonging to the aggregates area. To cooperate with those
institutions on issues concerning the profit of the Federation
and other member institutions.
3. To cooperate with the Latin American countries Governments
in works resulting on benefits for aggregates sector.
4. To watch the different processes susceptible of affecting
the aggregates sector and try to have influence, active
and responsibly on those processes, to get reasonable results,
practices that allow the aggregates sector to operate in
a profitable way, and to keep or improve their competitivity.
5. To establish relation, cooperation and information links
with other similar organizations or related to the construction
sector, to promote the creation of forums, seminaries, symposiums,
working days and Latin-American conferences related to the
sector.
6. To favour the research and development of technologies
in aggregates production, with the purpose of making more
competitively the activity of its members.
7. To promote and to establish searching mechanisms, analysis,
research and development of programs which allow their associates
being competitive to take profits of the advantages and
benefits that international agreements are offering.
8. To keep a members data base the widest and representative
as possible, joining the national associations representative
of aggregates sector, and setting up a communication cannel
to Exchange information, programs, projects, initiatives,
experiences and ideas.
9. To favour, facilitate and to promote that the aggregates
sector’s development will be framed into the current
philosophy of the sustainable development of aggregates
sector, spreading norms and technical codes and identifying,
codifying, promoting and spreading the most adequate methods
concerning health and safety and environment.
10. To gather and spread appropriate statistics and technical
information on the sector and it’s products.
11. To promote and when necessary, to create committees
and working groups, to face effective and efficiently the
expected performance of the Federation
12. To contribute with the process of formalization and
legalization of aggregates industry in countries where there
were activities out of local established laws or norms.
13. To favour the creation of educational centers, training,
edition and publication of technical studies on aggregates.
14. In general terms, to carry out any similar function
appropriate to the Federation.
